The Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste was formed in 1998 by West Valley Leaders from the Cities of Tolleson, Avondale and Litchfield Park. The genesis for the organization centered on two major issues facing the Hispanic Community: College-bound Hispanic students experienced a lower success rate in entering college, and the conspicuous absence of Hispanic teachers in the West Valley classrooms.
Today, the Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste continues to focus on our core mission as stated above. The Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste is an innovative, non-profit organization comprised of civic leaders whose focus is encouragement and assistance to Hispanic students in furthering their education. The Forum provides scholarships beginning with 8th Grade students entering high school to college bound students. The education focus is unique to the Forum, as its mission is entirely devoted to providing scholarships to students.
As leaders in their own professional role, board members of the Hispanic Leadership Forum Board of Directors collectively foster and promote quality and balance in their involvement with the community. The Forum designed a leadership academy in partnership with Valle del Sol called the Hispanic Leadership Institute West and recognized this as another level and component of education.
